Frequently Asked Questions

What do my dues pay for?
Association dues pay for a wide variety of services which protect our property values by keeping the neighborhood safe, orderly, and enjoyable. Such items include: insurance, bookkeeping, landscaping, and social functions.
Who is responsible for trash pickup and how much stuff can I put out?
Contracting for trash removal is the responsibility of each homeowner. Residents are free to use any licensed contractor they wish. Marion Township (www.mariontownship.com) also offers bulk item disposal days and Livingston County (www.livgov.com/dpw/Pages/default.aspx) offers hazardous waste disposal days. These will be advertised in the local media or you can contact them directly for details.
Is recycling and yard waste pickup available?
Check with your trash removal service to see if they offer recycling and/or yard waste pickup. In addition, Recycle Livingston (www.recyclelivingston.org) provides several recycling options (I.E. computers and electronics). See their website for details.

Who is responsible for snow plowing and should I mark my street frontage?
The Livingston County Road Commission (LCRC) is responsible for snow removal in our subdivision. Of course, our streets are a lower priority than major routes such as Pinckney Road. KHA recommends that street frontage and driveways should be clearly marked with reflectorized sticks or poles. You can find these at most local hardware stores. The important thing to remember is that the plow driver doesn't want to damage your lawn, but if it is not marked he simply can't see the edges. Generally, the LCRC will NOT reimburse you for damage to anything in the public right-of-way including the lawn & sprinklers. The LCRC does plow the streets in our subdivision, however, it is the individual homeowner’s responsibility to clear the area in front of their mailbox for postal delivery.
Are campers, RVs, and trailers permitted to be stored outside in my yard or driveway?
No, only trailers that are currently in use (I.E. for loading or unloading) are permitted to be in a driveway or yard. Please see the C&R for more information.
Can I get a subdivision discount on my sprinkler service and/or driveway sealing?
Yes! KHA has negotiated substantial discounts for sprinkler winterization and driveway sealing For information on current discounts, please contact Leo's Custom Sprinkler Service (810-231-6076) or All Star Sealcoating (248-752-5550).
